I know I mentioned before that we have a lot of pets...I don't know if I ever fully told you how many we have. Since my children all came home bringing their pets with them. we have 5 adults, 4 dogs, 5 cats, 2 lizards and 2 rats living under the same roof. That's a lot of water bowl filling. I am not a fan of constantly having to keep up with the food and water situation. It seems we are always filling something up. I have tried various systems like the 5 gallon water bottle on the water bowl base. This works great until it has to be filled again...no one wants to do it. It's heavy to try and lift a filled 5 gallon bottle and tip it successfully onto the bowl/stand without spilling water all over the place. Because no one likes doing it, it doesn't get done (three men in the house too!). Plus, have you ever seen a water bowl after 5 dogs slurped all their nastiness into it? I'm not sure who said that a dogs mouth is clean, all I can say is they didn't see my dogs. After a day or so the prissy cats want nothing to do with the whole thing and bug us for a fresh drink anyway. I knew something had to be done. By topping off the jar every day I don't have to worry about ever running out of water. No more 5 gallon jugs for me! I loved this system so much I bought a second one for upstairs. The cats are delighted because they always have fresh running filtered water, that is dog slobber free. I don't know why but cats prefer to have their water moving. The dogs just are happy to have water, however if you put down a bowl of water vs the filtered running water they go to the clean filtered water first.
