Bullying is a subject very near to me, and I could rant on about all the factoids regarding bullying for hours (or pages). I myself was often bullied when I was growing up. Explaining what bullying is to a child can be difficult for parents, and teaching your child how to approach you and tell about what's happening to them is even harder. Howard B. Wigglebottom comes to the rescue again in Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns about Bullies by Howard Binkow and Susan F. Cornelson. This fable illustrates how difficult it can be to go about your daily routine with bullies involved in your life, and how to cope with it appropriately. Often children think that the adults around them know what's going on. Also children are afraid to tell for fear of being a tattle tale. Howard B. Wigglebottom learns that it's okay to tell an adult when someone is hurting or bothering him.. 
This story is again whimsically illustrated, with light, airy strokes and beautiful candy-sweet colors. As always, every We Do Listen Foundation tale is accompanied with follow-up lesson questions at the end of the book, along with a free online animated version of the book, posters, songs and activities. My only wish would be that this book had also addressed how to identify a bully, and that not all bullies are the knock-you-down-steal-your-lunch-money kind.
