                                         The Bloggity Review of
The Mini book of grandwiches
cool lunches, recipes & more to show this aint your mama's pb&j...

While not all moms have the time to make a special lunch every day it is nice to treat the kids with a
cool and fun meal once in a while. I used to do themed meals once a week when the kids were little, some meals all the food were based on a certain color and others all the food started with a particular letter (that was a challenge let me tell you.). We had seafood dinners where everything was nautical, I made salads that looked like an octopus and the kids ate it up (get it ate it up?.. .yuck , yuck).

So when I had the opportunity to review grandwiches I jumped on it. I'm always looking for fun ways to perk up a meal and my brain runs halfway to nowhere most of the time so a quick look in a cookbook always helps. Oh did I mention I am a cook book freakazoid? I have hundreds of them and still there is not enough to tell me all the things I want to know about preparing a special meal.

grandwiches is stuffed with very cool alternatives and suggestions to the plain Jane PB&J or bologna and cheese with store bought mayo, in fact there is a recipe for fresh mayo and 12 variations to it.
Plus there is a list of 52 suggestions for sandwich fillings like this one that caught my eye . Suggestion number 44.Baked sweet potato slices ham slices and butter... wowies that sounds yummy. My mom wasn't one to spread butter on a sandwich but my grandma was and those sandwiches have always stuck in my memories as some of the best I have ever had. I love the fact that my children have such fond memories of my fun meals and I hope to be one of those cool grannies that can rock the boat a little when the kiddos come for the weekend.

I love how the author Lisa Leconte gives you all the tools you need including templates for the imaginative challenged like me. We are not left floundering in how do I do that land. I know I can always buy cookie cutters to make the cool cut outs but I don't have to put the extra expense out if I don't want to.

However, what I love the most besides the fun and cute designs of the fun meals in this recipe book is the introduction to foods I have never tried before like using nori seaweed and snap pea crisps. I have started on a new way of eating and I have to say this will be a great addition to my new cuisine. My overall rating is 2 snap pea crisps and a mini Babybel cheese (A++)!

When I visited Lisa's web site My Cute Cuisine I discovered even more fantastic recipes, ideas and was able to price this cookbook for $11.95 in her Etsy store where she also has all the molds, punches and accessories to make your lunches cute~e~munchable!.
